The BSRM-YPSA Livelihood Programmes aim to uplift the livelihoods of disadvantaged populations in the Mirsharai area by reducing their dependence on forests and fostering non-forest-based livelihood opportunities. This initiative also promotes capital formation through savings and facilitates access to financial resources for hill-dependent families.

Self-Help Project for Disadvantaged Communities in Gaibandha District

Objective: This project is focused on achieving sustainable livelihood improvements for the poor and extreme poor in Gaibandha. It provides occupational skills development, asset transfers for income-generating activities (IGAs), humanitarian assistance, and links beneficiaries with government and non-government agencies for additional support.

Beneficiaries: The project targets orphan children, extremely poor youth (both girls and boys), disabled individuals, and distressed women from 1,500 households across the Kapasia, Rasulpur, and Damodarpur unions in Sundarganj and Sadullapur upazilas of Gaibandha District.

Location: Rasulpur and Damodarpur unions of Sadullapur Upazila, and Kapasia union of Sundarganj Upazila, Gaibandha District.

Empowering Rural Vulnerable Women of the Dalit and Harijan Communities

Objective: This project aims to improve access to decent employment opportunities for vulnerable women (ages 15-35) from the Dalit and Harijan communities through market-relevant vocational and soft skills training. Beneficiaries will receive self-employment training and support from a revolving fund, while awareness campaigns on youth rights, child marriage, women’s empowerment, parenting, and gender equality will help reduce social inequalities.

Location: Domar and Dimla Upazilas of Nilphamari District.

Beneficiaries: 200 girls and women from 20 unions in these two upazilas who face high levels of unemployment and income insecurity due to limited formal education.

YPSA-BSRM Integrated Agro Development Project in Sitakund and Mirsharai

Purpose: This project aims to empower farmers in Sitakund and Mirsharai by promoting the cultivation of high-value and high-yield crops using modern and integrated farming techniques. Currently, many farmers lack awareness of advanced farming methods and rely on local practices, including excessive use of chemical pesticides. By providing training, this project will significantly enhance agricultural productivity and improve the standard of living for participating farmers.

Beneficiaries: The project directly and indirectly benefits 1,000 farmers in Sitakund and Mirsharai Upazilas.
