BSRM has been awarded the prestigious ‘A Better Tomorrow CSR Awards’ from the Daily Star and CSR Awards Bangladesh. In 2013, to prevent forest devastation, BSRM took up the Livelihood Programme for Conservation in partnership with Young Power in Social Action. In Mirsharai, Chattogram, BSRM created income-generating opportunities for around 7,000 impoverished communities, who were dependent on felling trees and selling wood to brick mills through other activities like nurseries, vegetable cultivation, gardening, crop cultivation, cattle rearing, and fishery. As a result, not only have an estimated 55,000 trees been preserved, every household’s monthly income has increased by Tk 3,000. BSRM is committed to preserving the environment through many programs like this in the future.
