BSRM proudly hosted an inspiring two-day international conference titled “Architecture – Where to Go?” on May 9–10, 2025, at the Aloki Convention Centre, Dhaka. The event brought together global and local thought leaders in architecture, academia, and design innovation to explore the future of architectural practice in Bangladesh and beyond.

Shaping Tomorrow’s Architectural Vision

The conference served as a significant platform for dialogue on sustainable design, urban development, and the evolving role of architecture in social transformation. Through dynamic panel discussions, an exhibition of student work, and an award competition, the event highlighted the need to balance regional identity with global influence in today’s built environment.

The panel sessions featured some of the most celebrated names in architecture including:

  • Ar. Farooq Ameen – City Design Studio, USA

Together with renowned local professionals and academic leaders, the discussions tackled pressing topics such as:

  • The Role of Architecture in Social Transformation

Session chairs included respected figures like Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mahbubur Rahman (AUST), Ar. Kazi Khaleed Ashraf (Bengal Institute), Ar. Nurur Rahman Khan, and Ar. Luva Nahid Choudhury (Bengal Foundation), ensuring a rich exchange of insights and perspectives.

Celebrating Student Innovation

A key highlight of the event was the Architecture Exhibition, which showcased top final-year thesis projects from universities across Bangladesh. Curated to reflect innovation, sustainability, and social impact, the exhibition demonstrated the creativity and vision of the country’s emerging architects.

Students nominated by their respective institutions competed in the Exhibition Award Competition, judged by a distinguished jury panel led by Ar. Jalal Ahmed. The competition aimed to recognize the most forward-thinking and impactful architectural ideas produced between April 2024 and March 2025.

With over two days of vibrant dialogue, exchange, and celebration of design excellence, “Architecture – Where to Go?” successfully set the tone for future architectural discourse in the region.
