Three persons from one family receive the Highest Tax payer award

The Chattogram Tax Department organized an event to honor the top taxpayers on 12th December, at the World Trade Center, Chattogram. For 2022-23 fiscal year, 42 individuals were recognized as the top taxpayers by the tax department. Three members from the same family of BSRM Group have been awarded as the highest taxpayers. Mr. Alihussain Akberali FCA, Chairman of the BSRM Group, and his son Mr. Aameir Alihussain (Managing Director, BSRM) were respectively recognized as the first and second highest taxpayers from Chattogram. The highest female taxpayer recognition went to Mrs. Bilkis Alihussain (wife of Mr. Alihussain Akberali). The Commissioner of Tax Zone-1, Md Shahadat Hossain Shikdar, chaired the event, and the chief guest was Professor Dr. Shirin Akhtar, vice-chancellor of University of Chittagong (CU). Mr. Aameir Alihussain received the awards on behalf of his family. While speaking at the event, he mentioned that from the onset of their business, they have been paying their taxes regularly. He added that his grandfather used to pay taxes and his father is paying taxes accordingly. Following their footsteps, he is also doing the same. He emphasized that this is part of their family culture and so he, his family members and the company have been receiving recognition for it. Finally, he highlighted that by paying more taxes, we will become more prosperous as a nation and thus everyone must pay their taxes.
